Job Description

Please note, this opportunity is only available to Manchester Met 2025 graduates who will be based in the UK for the duration of this role. You must have graduated from an undergraduate course from Manchester Met in June 2025 to apply. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications from current or previous postgraduate students.
  
Background: 

The Widening Participation (WP) team is an Outreach Team within Recruitment and Admissions that predominantly work with primary and secondary schools across Greater Manchester. They target those schools with high proportions of learners in receipt of free school meals, and those from areas where there is low progression to higher education. They do this by doing numerous activities with schools and young people to encourage them to think about Higher Education. 

The WP team are looking for an Content Assistant, to develop their online content and presence. They are looking to update, improve and raise the profile of their work via a fit for purpose website. This website is fully operational and needs tweaking and redesigning. You will report to the WP Officer, and the project will be managed by the WP Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Researching the market for online content similar advertising Outreach Activity
  • Speak to young people and schools with regards to an accessible website
  • Opportunities to create content
  • Explore the opportunity to develop online accessible materials
  • Network with Marketing, Recruitment and Web Teams to learn what is existing within the University
  • Working with web designers to implement and tweaks or changes
  • Support the WP team with delivery of events, and general admin

Monday 24 August - Friday 13 November 2026
Hours: 35 hours per week full time.
Working pattern: Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:45am-4:30pm or 9:00am-4:45pm with an unpaid 45-minute lunch break 
Location:  6 Great Marlborough Street

Person Specification

This role is only open to those who graduated from a Manchester Met undergraduate course in June 2025 and are not currently studying, nor have previously studied, on a postgraduate course. 
  
The ideal candidate will have the following:
   
Essential:
  • Ability to work on projects alone
  • Proactive, can-do attitude
  • Passion for working with young people
  • Fully supportive of the University’s Inclusive and Diverse Culture strategy – Evidenced by your approach to colleagues and other across the university regardless of background
  
Desirable: 
  • Working with young people – This is preferred, but not essential
  • Comfortable Interviewing, speaking or meeting with professional across the university
  • An interest in educational outreach is preferred, but not essential
  • Creativity – This can be broadly evidenced through application
