Background
Man Met Sport delivers, with partners, the non-academic sporting offer across the university. We are responsible for sports facilities; high performance sports teams including the Sports Scholarship programme, university sports clubs, sport and physical activity participation programmes, coach education and sports volunteering.
Recent investment into the department means this is an exciting time to be part of a growing and dynamic team. Our ambition is to increase engagement in sport and physical activity amongst both staff and students across both campuses, raise standards amongst our university sports clubs and support the development of our students through coaching and volunteering opportunities with our internal and external partners.
Support the sport development team to deliver high quality provision and student experience across a range of opportunities including free sport and fitness, campus leagues, and various interventions, to create a sense of community across our active campus. To collate and create a range of marketing and social media content to be used across a range of communication channels that engages students and staff and promotes the programmes Man Met Sport offers.
Key Responsibilities
You will work directly with development officers to plan and produce exciting content for a range of channels which will engage our student audience and convert interest into membership sales.
You will work closely with the Sport Development team, to support with Welcome events (such as trials, taster sessions and Freshers fair) where you will promote the Man Met Sport offer and key messaging.
You will report daily on membership sales, signups for leagues and support with sport club administration as required. A full induction will be done on the first day of the programme.
The successful candidate will:
- Produce targeted communications to students to convert membership sales
- Track, report and chase memberships
- Support with Welcome events (trials, tasters, freshers fair) including promotion, event set up, stall manning and dealing with enquiries
- Plan, organise and deliver a one-off sport event
- Drive recruitment of teams in our intramural sport offer.
- Staff promotional stalls, designed at promoting the whole MMU Sport offer.
- Work directly with student clubs to plan and deliver activities which will attract new members
- Maintain and update sport club pages on MMU Sport website
- Support with office administration as required including reception duties
- Collate and create a variety of social media content to promote opportunities and celebrate success of Man Met Sport programmes, across various channels (including Instagram, TikTok, website, newsletter and email communications)
- Collect, analyse and report data from events
- Support delivery of student workforce training and development opportunities

Dates: Tuesday 1 September – Friday 20 November 2026
Hours: 35 hours per week full time.
Working pattern: Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:45am-4:30pm or 9:00am-4:45pm with an unpaid 45-minute lunch break (flexible and unsocial hours may be required)
Location: Business School, Platt Lane Sports Complex
