Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

The health and education team are looking for Subject Support Ambassadors at our autumn open days in October and November. 

Successful applicants are required to provide insightful knowledge and experience to prospective students, giving an authentic representation of what life is like as a Manchester Met student. Your duties will include supporting academics by answering any queries visitors may have and offering your assistance wherever it is needed e.g. giving directions, acting as a tour guide.  

You will need to be confident, show initiative and be able to provide excellent customer service to all prospective students and guests so they all have a positive open day experience

We are particularly seeking students from the following subject areas:

  • Psychology
  • Physiotherapy
  • Primary Education
  • Education
  • Early Years and Childhood Studies (EYCS)
  • Speech and Language Therapy (SALT)
  • Social Work
  • Social Care
  • Special and Inclusive Education (SEND)
  • Occupational Therapy (OT) (pre-reg)
Dates: Saturday 10 and 17 October
Hours of Work: 9am - 4pm (7 hours)
Location: Brooks Building

Person Specification

This opportunity is open to current Manchester Met students only. Applicants must:

  • Be a current undergraduate student within the Faculty of Health and Education (Occupational Therapy students are exempt from this requirement and may apply regardless of level of study).
  • Be a positive and professional role model for prospective students.
  • Have excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be confident speaking to individuals and groups of prospective students and guests.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with academic staff, fellow student ambassadors and event colleagues.
  • Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to help wherever required during the event.
  • Be enthusiastic about their subject area and proud to represent Manchester Met.
  • Be committed to providing an excellent visitor experience and high standards of customer service.
We welcome applications from students currently studying Psychology, Education, Early Years and Childhood Studies, Speech and Language Therapy, Primary Education, Physiotherapy, Special and Inclusive Education, Social Work, Social Care and Occupational Therapy. Applicants should have a good knowledge of their course and be comfortable sharing their experiences with prospective students and guests.
