Placement Ambassador Faculty of Science and Engineering

We are seeking to recruit Placement Ambassadors to support current Level 4 & 5 students within the Faculty of Science and Engineering by enthusiastically promoting the benefits of a placement year & internships, fostering a placement first culture within the Faculty, supporting activities such as the Dalton Academy, and providing appropriate guidance and advice.

Applicants are invited from returning Final Year Faculty of Science and Engineering students, who have successfully completed a placement year themselves.

This is a great opportunity for students to further build their CV and professional development, put their placement experience to good use, and have a positive impact on their peers. You will be expected to lead discussions, share your ideas and experiences, contribute to the planning and development of placement focussed events and signpost students to relevant support.

Tasks to include

• As a returning placement student, provide contextual support and feedback to students currently pursuing a placement.
• Support staff in the planning and delivery of sessions supporting students seeking to secure a placement or internship.
• Support the planning, development and deployment of new events designed to increase engagement with and success in placement applications.
• Attending training and debriefs where you will receive support, resources, and feedback.
• Work on additional activities and events if & when required.

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students within the Faculty of Science and Engineering (School of Computing and Mathematics, School of Biological and Chemical Sciences, School of Engineering and Environment, School of Sport and Exercise Sciences). Additionally, you must be a Level 6 student who has successfully completed a Sandwich Placement Year.

You will be an enthusiastic individual who is keen to be a role model for both Manchester Metropolitan University and your School. We are looking for team players who are keen to work together with other colleagues from across the University to create engaging and successful sessions.

The role requires you to have close contact with a wide variety of students and so you must be friendly, approachable, and non-judgmental in order for students to feel that the learning environment is a safe place.

 You must be committed to attending your sessions, planning time, training and debriefs. The initial training to be confirmed with the successful candidates.
