Seamstress

At the Resource Centre in the Science & Engineering Faculty, we are always looking to enhance our service delivery through improving our resources.

This role is to support making our Chemistry Laboratory Coats Health & Safety Compliant. In order to achieve this there is a requirement to sew up all the pockets.

Within this role you will:

• Need to be a Manchester Fashion Institute Student who has been inducted into the use of the sewing machines in the Cavendish Building.
• Have sewing skills to sew up pockets in Laboratory Lab Coats

Students will be expected to develop the following skills and experiences while carrying out this internship:

• Communication skills with a range of stakeholders
• Knowledge of related equipment and materials (sewing machines, fabric, threads)
• Customer service skills  

This role is only open to current Manchester Met students who meet the following requirements:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills to work collaboratively and independently
• Ability to follow instructions
• Ability to adhere to Health and Safety legislation
• Customer service experience
• Knowledge of fashion and textiles materials
