The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
The purpose of this role is to represent the voices of doctoral students in Business and Law, feed these voices into decision making processes that affect doctoral students, and thereby help to maintain a doctoral community in which students feel a sense of belonging.
Key Tasks
- Design and carry out processes to gather the voices and views of doctoral students across the faculty, in inclusive and engaging ways.
- Attend Faculty Research Degrees Committee four times per year, and provide a verbal report on doctoral student views in these meetings.
- Attending Faculty of Business and Law Research & Innovation Committee and provide a verbal report.
- Liase with the Student Union, including by feeding doctoral student voices and views from the faculty to key contacts in the Union.
- Collaborate with the Doctoral College Faculty Head and leadership team to ensure doctoral voice is taken on board in the faculty’s provision for doctoral students.
- Assist with designing, organising and delivering activities to help build doctoral student engagement, belonging and community.
- Work collaboratively on all of the above with the other faculty doctoral rep.

Dates: from October 2026 - October 2028
Times: 30 hours per year (to be arranged with successful student, not exceeding 16 hours in any week)
- Attending Faculty Research Degrees Committee: 4 x 2 hours = 8 hours
- Attending Faculty of Business and Law Research & Innovation
Committee: 3 x 2 hours = 6 hours
- Gathering student views: 8 hours
- Additional community building and engagement activities: 8 hours
Location: both remote and on campus. In person attendance at some meetings is an essential requirement.
