Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Business and Law Manchester Met students; to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

The Faculty of Business & Law is looking for a creative, organised and enthusiastic Social Media Intern to join our Future Students Marketing team.

This internship is a great opportunity for a student who is passionate about social media, content creation and digital storytelling, and who wants to gain hands-on experience working within a university marketing team.

You'll play an active role in showcasing what it's like to study Business & Law at Manchester Met, creating engaging content that brings student life, courses, events and opportunities to life for prospective students. You'll work across a range of social media activity, from capturing content at events and creating short-form videos to scheduling posts, monitoring channels and helping us understand what content performs well.

Key Responsibilities

Social media content creation – Plan, film, photograph and edit engaging content for our social media channels, including Instagram and TikTok. This could include student life, course experiences, events, placements, study abroad, societies and other aspects of the Manchester Met experience.

Event and campus content capture – Attend key recruitment and student events, including Open Days and Visit Days, to capture photography and video content that showcases the experience of being a Business & Law student.

Student ambassador content – Work with student ambassadors to capture authentic stories, testimonials, quotes and short-form video content that highlights their experiences and helps prospective students understand what it's like to study at Manchester Met.

Social media planning and scheduling – Support the development of the faculty's social media content plan, contributing ideas and helping to schedule content around key moments in the undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment cycle.

Publishing content – Draft, edit and publish engaging content across relevant social media platforms, ensuring content follows Manchester Met's brand guidelines, tone of voice and campaign priorities.

Social media engagement – Monitor social media channels and respond to comments and messages where appropriate, escalating queries to the relevant team when needed.

Campaign support – Support the Marketing team with social media activity for key recruitment campaigns and deadlines, including content designed to encourage prospective students to explore courses and apply to Manchester Met.

Social media reporting – Track basic social media performance metrics, produce simple reports and use insights to suggest ways we can improve engagement and reach.

Team collaboration – Work closely with the Business & Law Marketing team, student ambassadors and other colleagues to develop and deliver engaging content.
