The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
A number of students are required to work on the IT Service Desk, providing IT Support via phone, live chat, portal (self-service) and our face to face desk in the Library.
The IT Service Desk is the first point of contact for all staff, students and guests at Manchester Met for issues, requests and questions related to IT. The Service Desk provides a professional, informed and non-stop service whenever and wherever our customers need help.
The successful students will work as a member of the IT Service Desk team, assisting primarily Manchester Met students, but also staff and guests with IT related issues, requests and questions.
Students will work as part of a team, working from Bridgewater House on Whitworth Street in Manchester or the Library face to face desk.
Main tasks
- Follow Service Desk troubleshooting and request fulfilment procedures.
- Ensure that all incoming queries are handled in a customer friendly, professional and efficient manner, with minimal wait time for customers.
- Provide prompt escalation service of cases that cannot be resolved on the IT Service Desk.
- Provide high quality information in each record logged, following the “do it right first time” concept.
- Use support systems and tools accurately for diagnostics and fulfilment of queries.

Hours of work - Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 1pm or 1-5pm (successful students will need to commit to a minimum of 2 x 4 hour shifts per week)
You will be required to work both in the office and in the Library according to business needs.

Interviews - Online interviews will take place end of July, August. Specific times will confirmed once you are booked in.
Training - Full training will be provided in-house week commencing 9 September (up to 35 hours).
