We are looking for a motivated and skilled student to join our research team as a Research Assistant. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing an immersive application (Metaverse/Virtual Reality) to demonstrate innovative research ideas focused on virtual physiotherapy. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in Metaverse/VR development and interested in gaining hands-on experience while contributing to impactful research.

Key Tasks
Research Activities
- Develop and implement a Metaverse/VR application that showcases research ideas related to remote physiotherapy.
- Utilise Unity3D, Unreal Engine, or similar platforms to build immersive Metaverse/VR applications.
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure the application's functionality and performance.
- Collaborate with the research team to design and create interactive and immersive experiences.
- Conduct literature review in the areas of rehabilitation exercises and treatment, computer vision techniques for body parts movements and AI techniques to improve these movements
- Write up results of own research and prepare for presentation to research team and relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to the production of research reports and publications.
- Plan and prioritise own work and resources, within research project framework, in order to determine the most effective way to achieve agreed research objectives.
- Use initiative and judgement to develop appropriate techniques in order to facilitate research work and resolve problems affecting the achievement of objectives and deadlines.
Liaison and Networking
- Present research to the team and write appropriate articles for publication, such as academic/professional journals or conferences.
- Participate in internal and external partnerships and networks to aid the dissemination of research findings, share best practices, and enhance the reputation of the University.
Service Provision
- Proactively and effectively engage with quality assurance procedures to uphold University standards.
- Collaborate with academic colleagues on research development and future direction.
Team Working
- Actively participate as a member of the research team, offering general help and guidance to others and PhD students who may be assisting with the research project.
- Attend Faculty, Department and Programme meetings/boards as appropriate to contribute to decision-making proactively.
- Assist in the supervision of taught postgraduate and/or research students, as required, to support the development of research skills.
