Job Description

Please note, this opportunity is only available to Manchester Met 2024 graduates who will be based in the UK for the duration of this role. You must have graduated from an undergraduate course from Manchester Met in June 2024 to apply. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications from current or previous postgraduate students.
  
Background
The Student Case Management team (SCM) is responsible for all formal student casework including academic appeals, formal student complaints, non-academic misconduct and Fitness to Practise cases. Though their work on complaints SCM play a key role in addressing the concerns of individual students and also identifying wider issues that can feed into improving the experience for all students. SCM would like to offer graduates the opportunity to work with the team as complaint investigators.
 
 
Key Responsibilities
The graduate will be responsible for investigating formal stage complaints that have been submitted by students about the service provided by the University. They will then write and prepare a report that will help a complaints panel come to a decision on the complaint.
 
 
Key Tasks
  • Interviewing students and staff to gather information.
  • Gathering information from different sources around the University.
  • Writing a report into a complaint, setting out what has been established through the investigation, supported by documentary evidence.

Hours: 35 hours per week full time, except for Bank Holiday Monday (25 August 2025)
Working pattern: Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:45am-4:30pm or 9:00am-4:45pm with an unpaid 45-minute lunch break 
Location:  6 Great Marlborough Street, M1 5AL

Person Specification

This role is only open to those who graduated from a Manchester Met undergraduate course in June 2024 and are not currently studying, nor have previously studied, on a postgraduate course. 
  
The ideal candidate will have the following:
   
Essential:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively and sensitively with staff at all levels and across a broad range of areas
  • An excellent standard of written English and the ability to produce clear and accurate reports
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills
  • A logical and patient approach to problem-solving and an enjoyment of working through complex cases
