Job Description

Please note, this opportunity is only available to Manchester Met 2024 graduates who will be based in the UK for the duration of this role. You must have graduated from an undergraduate course from Manchester Met in June 2024 to apply. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications from current or previous postgraduate students.
 
This role as a Student Support Project Officer is available as part of the Future Talent Graduate Scheme.

Background
This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in enhancing the student experience by designing initiatives that support student transition, with a focus on personal tutoring, belonging, and mattering. It also provides the chance to develop valuable skills in project management, communication, and organisation. Additionally, the role offers experience working with academics and undergraduate students.

Based in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the role will support a range of projects within the faculty, with a particular emphasis on improving the student experience both inside and outside the classroom.


Key Responsibilities
The role involves supporting the planning and execution of student-focused events, workshops, and activities designed to enhance engagement and community. It also includes acting as a liaison between students and faculty, gathering insights into student needs and interests to inform future initiatives. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with Education Leads on special projects and initiatives as needed, contributing to the overall improvement of the student experience.

 
Key Tasks
  • Create initiatives to actively involve students in extracurricular activities by organizing events, workshops, and seminars that encourage participation and collaboration.
  • Develop a calendar of inclusive events and manage logistics of this, following FAH Internal Events protocol.
  • Strategically supporting staff in the planning and execution of technical and creative workshops, ensuring smooth operation and effective learning environments
  • Support the completion of student voice surveys e.g. NSS, SVS, Unit Surveys etc.  
  • Collect and analyse feedback from students to improve future events and initiatives.

Dates: Monday 11 August - Friday 31 October 2025
Hours: 35 hours per week full time, except for Bank Holiday Monday
Working pattern: Monday to Friday. Working hours are 08:45am-16:30pm or 09:00am-16:45pm with an unpaid 45-minute lunch break

Person Specification

This role is only open to those who graduated from a Manchester Met undergraduate course in June 2024 and are not currently studying on a postgraduate course.
 
 The ideal candidate will have the following:
 
 
 Essential:
  • Recent graduate in a relevant field (e.g from Arts and Humanities creative courses).
  • Creative mindset with a strong passion for enhancing the student experience.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and social media platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work independently.  

Desirable: 

  • Experience in event planning or student organizations is a plus.
  • Experience of Lowry and/or Cavendish building technical resources is a plus
  •  Understanding of Manchester’s creative and cultural scene is a plus
