Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

The Res Life Team is looking to share more student generated content across its social media channels. The team is looking recruit two Student Content Creators who can create content about our accommodation and events on a weekly basis, following agreed themes. The content could include: diaries, blogs, videos, images, vlogs etc. This cover a variety of topics and also required on site attendance to film/photograph events.

Ideally candidates will have prior filming/photography experience, will need to be confident both on and using a camera. Candidates will be required to have good understanding of how to use social media, Instagram, Youtube and TikTok primarily but also in more limited capacity Facebook and Twitter to ensure content is in the right format for each platform. Candidate should confident appearing in front of the camera. You must also be comfortable with content being used on the Manchester Met website as well as social media and in other communications to students.

 

Duties:

  • Video Content Creation: Produce and edit informative videos about the accommodation booking process.
  • On Camera Work: Provide clear and engaging voice-overs for instructional videos.
  • Virtual Tours: Create virtual tours of the accommodation facilities.
  • Content Revitalization: Review and enhance existing written content on the website, making it more appealing and relevant to prospective students.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Accommodation Services team to understand and meet their content needs.
 
Dates: 27 August 2025 - 1 September 2025
Hours of Work: 8 hours a week 
Interviews: Wednesday 13 August 2025.
 

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements - 
 

Essential Criteria:

* Marketing and promotion knowledge 

* Experience producing Social Media content for TikTok and Instagram 

* Experience producing and editing video for social media, website and YouTube 

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with a broad range of customers.

* Highly motivated and able to work as a member of a team.

* Ability to use appropriate computer systems and software packages, including Capcut, Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, or equivalent.

* Awareness and understanding of importance of good customer service.

* Shifts will be a mix of day time, evening and weekend work. You will be informed in advance of the shifts you are required to work.

* Assist with any other duties as directed by the Residential Life team to support the student experience. 

*Ability to use initiative and judgement to resolve issues and prioritise duties effectively to meet agreed deadlines.

* Experience of living in student accommodation, including Manchester Metropolitan University or private halls.

*To be the face of the department on social media, in videos and any other media required

*To promote social, charitable and educational face to face and online events within the accommodation

*Understanding of social media scheduling and ability to create own content from suggestions

 

Desirable Criteria

  * Knowledge and understanding of working with students in the community and the associated issues.
