Would you like the opportunity to aid delivery of upcoming events in the Arts and Humanities Faculty?
 
AHEAD – Arts and Humanities Engagement and Dialogue - aims to elevate the Faculty in national discussions, advocating for the significance of arts, humanities, and social sciences in addressing issues in society and making a positive difference. AHEAD is a new programme and the Engagement Coordinator is seeking a highly organised, motivated, and creative Project Assistant

As AHEAD Project Assistant, you will assist AHEAD with their high-profile internal and external events and training. You will work closely with Arts Humanities Researchers and AHEAD’s Engagement Coordinator on all aspects of events organisation and delivery- from researching high-impact future events to providing assistance to our fantastic speakers on the day. This is an excellent role for any student with an interest in events organisation or the policy world to develop their events management skills and make valuable connections.
 
Assistants are added to a pool and recruited on a project or event basis.
Hours are variable and discussed on a project by project basis.

The following tasks and responsibilities will be covered to varying degrees, depending on the skills and time of the Assistant:

Event design and promotion
You will assist in the design and organisation of events. This might include:
Researching and creating an annual events calendar, scoping future high-impact events and speakers.
Assisting with the planning of these events, including approaching and arranging event dates with speakers, and researching and booking suitable event spaces.
Producing high-quality promotional materials for events. For example, setting up engaging Eventbrite pages and working with our graphic designer on posters and social media images.
Creatively promoting AHEAD events to key stakeholders through our Social Media Channels and via our website.
Admin tasks relating to event preparation and setup such as preparing badges, bags and signage

Events delivery
You will assist with event delivery on the day. This might include:
Assisting with the set-up of events spaces.
Arranging promotional materials e.g. posters and ensuring clear signposting to the event.
Greeting and assisting our external speakers.
Greeting and checking in guests and answering any queries.
On the day events promotion, including taking photographs and live-posting.
Assistant for online events as a moderator or with slide management
Collecting feedback

Events evaluation and post event documentation
You will help us obtain feedback on events, to inform future AHEAD activities:
Collating feedback and evaluation data
Producing event blogs and reports
Researching creative ideas for events evaluation- feedback postcards, video reactions- we’re open to experimentation!
Designing and sharing our events feedback form via Eventbrite, and collating responses.
Sharing key takeaways from evaluation activities with the team to help shape future AHEAD events and amplify the ongoing event outputs

Please note, this role may involve working evenings to deliver AHEAD events.
 
Use of AI in applications is strongly discouraged.

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements -
About You
 
You must be studying within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities or enrolled onto the Event Management course in order to apply.

Experience may include
Working on events, both in planning and delivery stage.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Calm under pressure and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks,
Available to assist with AHEAD events on the day.
Skill in using various social media platforms
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Fun, accessible, and professional approach
 
An interest in events and communications, or an interest in policy is a bonus!
Do you speak additional languages, including BSL? These are not essential, but very welcome as many events have international guests.
Experience with setting up Eventbrite helpful but not essential - training given
