Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

The role will involve pattern cutting, sewing, and cutting repeated shapes such as bag components. The student must have strong sewing skills and the ability to sew orders to a high standard, as well as a basic understanding of pattern cutting. A key weekly task includes cutting trousers for website orders, ensuring each size is accurate, grain lines are correctly aligned, and fabric is used as efficiently as possible to minimise waste. I will be able to teach the student how to sew the trousers as part of the role.

The student may also be asked to help source materials, threads, and other components, so a basic knowledge of fabrics and materiality is important. As I work on new designs for the website, the student will have the opportunity to be involved in the design process and gain insight into the development of new pieces.

The studio is located at The Yard Atelier in Cheetham Hill, a shared space with ten resident designers. This environment provides a unique opportunity to learn from and connect with a community of talented and like-minded creatives while developing new skills in a collaborative setting.
