Job Description

 
Man Met Sport are looking to recruit a team of Manchester based Sports Coordinators to start in September 2026. They will be required to implement new activities for the academic year 2026-27.

You will be delivering fun and engaging sport sessions as part of our Free Sport and Fitness programme.  There will be a focus on increasing and retaining the number of students and staff taking part.  You will be responsible for collecting and reporting weekly attendance figures and leading safe and enjoyable sessions. The programme comprises of multiple sports sessions including Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Tennis, Squash, Volleyball, Basketball, Futsal and many more.

You will also have the chance to support the running and delivery of MMU Sport's Campus Leagues within the university, including recruitment and retention of students, team sheets, league format, running of the leagues and refereeing/umpiring matches. Man Met Sport runs a number of leagues throughout the academic year including Football, Netball, Badminton, Volleyball and Basketball.

You will also be expected to support with promoting Man Met Sport opportunities alongside delivering events and tournaments throughout the academic year.

Dates and hours: 3 -10 hours, Monday – Sunday afternoons/evenings in term time throughout the academic year.

Location: Sugden/Platt Lane Sport Complex/Hough End Leisure Centre

Please note that anyone who is a Sports Coordinator from 2025 -26 will need to reapply for 2026-2027.

Successful students will be invited to participate in an interview process which will involve delivering a group sport session and attending a Face to Face interview. Interviews will be held at the Sugden Sports Centre on either Tuesday 17 or 18 Wednesday February 2025 – Timings TBC.

In addition, applicants should be/be able to/have:

Essential
•          A Manchester Met Student that will be enrolled on a course for the whole of the 2026 -2027 academic year
•          An enthusiastic approach and a ‘can do’ attitude
•          A love of sport and an attitude that will help convince people to play & compete
•          A sound understanding of the sport applying for
•          Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
•          The ability to work in a team with some independent working
•          IT literate
•          Time management and flexibility to fit responsibilities around your study
•          A sound understanding of social media

Desirable

•          Emergency First Aid
•          Sports related qualification (e.g. coaching / officiating award)
