Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
 
The role is suited to a candidate with the technical and organisational ability to undertake new research, read, contextualise, structure, format and update research related projects and events using: Wordpress as a website backend (multiple), company LinkedIn pages (multiple), YouTube Channels, and other social media.
 
The role will involve working with the [CPU]lab in the Self-managed Research Group ARO. This is part pf the Manchester School of Architecture. The candidate will ideally have a design and research background with the ability to formulate and produce visually attractive online posters, covers, branding, related graphic/web design outputs. Understanding of urban, computational and design research at a level that allows them to understand the content of the research at the [CPU]lab and edit/restructure the text/outputs before release in the public domain. 
 
Date: 9 March - 31 July 2026
Hours: 3.5 hrs per week. Meeting on site (MTC) on Thursday mornings for discussions with managers.

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students. You will likely be from a design and research background working on your PhD or postgraduate masters. 
 
Essential
* MA/MArch/Msc
* Ability to undertake research by preparing, setting up, conducting and recording the outcome of experiments and/or field work.
* Ability to use initiative, creativity and judgement to develop appropriate approaches in order to further research.
* Proficiency in the use of relevant software packages such as MS Office, Wordpress, HTML
* Possess sufficient breadth or depth of knowledge to work within an established research team.
* Experience of data collection
* Experience of presenting and communicating complex information to a range of audiences, both orally and in writing
* Experience of prioritising work independently and as part of a team in order to deliver individual and team objectives
 
Desirable
* Knowledge of Urban Sustainability Issues, including an understanding of relevant research methods and techniques in the area.
*  Knowledge of multiple CAD and visual design software packages.
*  Knowledge of academic literature review methods.
