Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
 
Purpose of the Role

The University is undertaking a review of campus accessibility to better understand how spaces support or create barriers for students. This role involves participating in a 1-hour, in-person focus group to share experiences, perspectives, and ideas related to accessibility and inclusion across campus.

Feedback from this session will help inform future campus planning, design, and improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Participants will be asked to:

  • Attend a facilitated, in-person focus group discussion
  • Share experiences of using and navigating campus spaces
  • Discuss what works well and where accessibility could be improved
  • Provide constructive feedback to support inclusive campus planning
  • Trial and provide feedback to furniture solutions designed to aid the accessibility of teaching spaces.
  • No preparation or prior experience is required.

  • One-time, in-person student engagement opportunity
  • 1 hour (single focus group session)
  • Geoffrey Manton Ground Floor, Wednesday 25 March, 1pm - 2pm

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

Applicants must: 

  • Be available to attend a one-hour, in-person session at Geoffrey Manton

  • Be willing to share personal experiences of using and navigating campus spaces

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate thoughts and ideas clearly in a group setting

  • Show respect for diverse perspectives and experiences

  • Be open to providing honest, constructive feedback


Desirable Criteria

It would be advantageous (but not required) for applicants to:

  • Have lived experience of disability, long-term health conditions, neurodiversity, or other access needs

  • Have experience using a range of campus learning, social, or support spaces

  • Have an interest in accessibility, inclusion, or inclusive design

  • Feel confident contributing to group discussions
