The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
We are looking for students to assist with international students attending pre-sessional English course. This role will be for 12 hours per week. This will be split Monday - Friday, and will be from Monday 15th June- Friday 28th August 2026.
What are the Pre-sessional Courses?
Pre-sessional English students are international students who are studying English and academic skills before their chosen degree courses (mostly postgraduate) at Manchester Met. There will be approximately 50 students on our on-campus courses this summer studying these full-time intensive programmes.
What does the role involve?
- Running a weekly homework club (space for students to work independently with minor assistance).
- Running a weekly conversation club (materials provided). helping students with any general questions.
- Providing support/guidance for any general university related issues
- Offering signposting to the relevant department of the university to deal with any queries or issues.
- Accompanying students on the end of course trip.
The student helper will also offer non-academic support to students, including: giving Manchester travel and shopping advice, advising on social activities, and helping to book events for the students.
We are looking for someone who will enjoy helping our students with their pastoral needs and fostering a sense of community and support within the cohort.
The student helper will be required to attend the end of term trip on Thursday 27th August, where they will be required for the full day.
